This is an excellent remake of the original. It looks amazing, plays well, and the music is incredible. The controls are tight and responsive and there is quite a bit of replayability built in due to the arcade-like nature of the gameplay. The multiplayer, while limited in scope, is well done and rather intense. The attention to detail is amazing, from small story references in the cut scenes to graphical nuances such as trees lighting on fire from your lasers. Many levels look completely different from the original due to the graphical improvements (e.g. Sector X). If you need a reason to buy a Switch 2, here's another one. As someone who played Star Fox 64 a number of times as a child, this title interested me despite it being a true 1:1 of the original with an entirely new aesthetic, modernized controls, expanded lore, and beautiful animations. You can expect an easy 20+ hours of gameplay if you complete all the challenges, routes, and modes (campaign- normal + expert, challenges, battle/multiplayer). Also, the music is stunning and quite nostalgic. The gameplay itself is as fun and captivating as ever before with the visual upgrade. I have found some of the normal difficulty to be too easy, but the challenges and medals add some challenge. Excellent remake of a classic with top-notch visuals. This one is definitely a can't-miss title for the Switch 2. It's Top Gun meets Star Wars, with a distinct and lovable cast of animal pilots. My husband is a big fan of the original game for Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 and he absolutely loves this remake. I never played much of the series myself, but I'm loving it too.The main campaign follows the same story as the original, complete with secrets to find and branching story options. I've played the original Star Fox 64 countless times over the past 29 years. Most recently I've revisited it using the fantastic PC recompilation on my Steam Deck (60+ fps, widescreen, visual mods, etc). Always loved the gameplay, the characters, the music, the scenarios. It's an evergreen game.This remake of it is fantastic. The same gameplay is there though feels slightly different. The visuals are amazing. The music is thrilling. The new cutscenes recontextualize events in the game and give a welcome explanation to why the characters choose to take one route or the other on their way to the end stage.
